The submission period for special sessions has now closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The 1st Conference of the Spanish Society of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine (CIABiomed), to be held on 23 and 24 October 2025 at the Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering of the University of Seville, invites the research community to submit proposals for the organisation of special tracks. These sessions, which will run in parallel with the general sessions of the conference, aim to provide a focused space for the presentation and discussion of work in specific, emerging or interdisciplinary areas within the field of artificial intelligence applied to biomedicine.
The special sessions should focus on topics that do not directly overlap with the general programme of the conference, but which provide added value through innovative approaches, complementary perspectives, lines of research in development or relevant methodological debates. Particular consideration will be given to proposals that promote collaboration between institutions, critical discussion and the projection of future challenges in the ethical, rigorous and responsible use of artificial intelligence in biomedical contexts.
Once the proposal has been accepted, the Organising Committee of the conference will set up a specific information page for each special session on the official website of the CIABiomed 2025 conference. Organisers must provide a detailed description of the session, a list of topics of interest, the Call for Papers, submission information (which will use the same system and dates as the general call for papers), a list of organisers and the associated scientific committee, as well as any additional relevant information.
The organisers of each special session will be responsible for managing the peer review process of the papers submitted to their session. This includes the selection of qualified reviewers, the supervision of the quality and punctuality of the evaluations and the proposal of decisions of acceptance or rejection. All decisions will be subject to the final approval of the Scientific Committee of the conference. Likewise, the organisers are expected to ensure compliance with ethical standards in the evaluation process and to avoid any possible conflict of interest.
It is compulsory for at least one of the organisers of the special session to register for the conference, attend in person in Seville and act as chair of the session assigned to them in the programme. In addition, the organisers must actively promote their special session through institutional channels, social networks, professional contacts and scientific communities, with the aim of attracting a sufficient number of proposals. Please note that sessions that do not reach a minimum of four accepted papers may be cancelled or their contributions redistributed in the general sessions of the conference.
- Deadline for sending proposals:
11/05/2025. ( 20/05/2025 extended) - Notification of acceptance:
13/05/2025. (23/05/2025 extended)
Proposal information should be submitted electronically using the following form: https://2025.iabiomed.org/form-special-tracks/
Each proposal should include:
- Special session title.
- Approximate estimate of the number of contributions expected in the special session (minimum 4 contributions).
- Brief biography of the organiser(s) of the special session.
- Draft ‘Call for papers’ for the special session (dates must be the same as the main conference).
- One or two appropriate journals or follow-up publications: it is possible for special sessions to organise a special issue.
