The 1st Conference of the Spanish Society of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine (IABiomed) will be held at the School of Computer Engineering of the University of Seville, Spain, on 23 and 24 October 2025, and will be a meeting place for researchers, professionals and students interested in the ethical, rigorous and responsible use of artificial intelligence in biomedicine.
This multidisciplinary event will provide an open forum for sharing recent advances, discussing current challenges and exploring new trends. It will cover everything from the development of techniques and models to their application in real clinical contexts. It will combine scientific content with an informative approach through keynote lectures, oral presentations and scientific posters.
The scientific community is invited to submit original papers related to the following thematic areas of the conference (among others):
- Artificial intelligence applications in public health and rare diseases.
- Machine and deep learning for biomedical data analysis.
- Big Data and computational infrastructures for AI systems in biomedicine.
- Artificial intelligence-assisted biomarker development.
- Ethics, privacy and security in AI applications in healthcare.
- AI for multi-omic integration and analysis of heterogeneous biomedical data.
- Explainable and interpretable AI in clinical and biomedical contexts.
- Artificial intelligence in infectious diseases and epidemiological surveillance.
- Artificial intelligence in biosensor engineering and intelligent medical devices.
- Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) based on AI techniques.
- Mining of clinical and epidemiological data using AI algorithms.
- Predictive modelling and personalised medicine using artificial intelligence.
- Modelling and simulation of biological systems with AI approaches.
- Educational platforms and clinical simulation based on artificial intelligence.
- Prediction of protein structures and molecular interactions with AI techniques.
- Medical image processing and computer vision in clinical environments.
- Collaborative projects in biomedical AI: transfer, validation and use cases.
- AI-powered computational radiomics, genomics and phenomics.
- Gene co-expression networks and biological network analysis using AI.
- Medical robotics and artificial intelligence applied to surgery and assisted therapies.
- AI-based clinical decision support systems.
- Telemedicine and AI-driven digital health platforms.
- Natural language processing (NLP) in biomedicine.
Potential authors should submit their contributions to the general topic or to one of the special sessions, if applicable. For more information, please refer to the submission guidelines.
- Deadline for submission of papers: 04/07/2025.
- Date of notification of acceptance of papers: 31/07/2025.
- Deadline for camera-ready due: 14/09/2025.
Regular, short and posters papers should be prepared following the Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI) format from Springer, the template for which is available at https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines. The template can also be found on the Overleaf platform: https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/springer-lecture-notes-in-computer-science/kzwwpvhwnvfj#.WuA4JS5uZpi.
As for the breakthroughs papers, the authors should be prepared using the following Overleaf template: https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/template-for-submissions-to-ceur-workshop-proceedings-ceur-ws-dot-org/wqyfdgftmcfw
CIABioMed 2025 accepts four types of submissions:
- Regular papers: This type of paper is limited to a range of 12-15 pages.
- Short papers: These papers are limited to a range of 6-11 pages.
- Posters papers: This contribution is limited to a total of between 4-6 pages, and it is not possible to extend the length of the document. This type of document will not include an oral presentation during the conference. Authors of this type of document should prepare a real poster to be displayed during the conference. For presentation purposes at the conference, authors should prepare the poster in portrait format. Accepted dimensions are 60 (width) x 80 (length).
- Breakthroughs papers: This modality aims to give visibility to recent research and bring these advances closer to the scientific community, fostering interdisciplinary knowledge and connections between researchers from different areas such as computer science, biology, medicine and bioengineering. Breakthroughs papers may refer to work that has already been published, although the content of the document must be completely original. The contribution is limited to 2-4 pages, and it is not possible to extend the length of the document. The duration of the oral presentation of this type of document will be shorter than the regular one.
Regular and short papers accepted will be included with their own DOI in Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI) from Springer. Poster papers accepted will also be published in Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI) grouped under the same DOI. In order to encourage more developed contributions, authors are encouraged to expand their papers whenever possible, so that they can be considered as regular papers. The accepted breakthroughs papers will be published in proceedings published in CEUR.
Papers should be submitted electronically via the following website: https://meteor.springer.com/CIABiomed2025
All submitted papers must be written in English and will be reviewed by single-blind peer review by at least three members of the Program Committee. Papers must be original and must not have been published previously. In addition, submitted documents must comply with Springer's code of conduct: https://www.springernature.com/gp/authors/book-authors-code-of-conduct
